The Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride has raised over $1,140,000 during the past 19 years!

This money has supported:
Cairns School of Distance Education
State primary schools - including Mt Garnet, Mt Surprise, Georgetown, Croydon, Normanton and Karumba Child care centres and sports associations across Cape York
Royal Flying Doctor Service
Burns Unit at the Royal Children's Hospital
Children's Services at the Cairns Base Hospital
Pedals Program (first initiated in 2013 for students across FNQ)

Fundraising in 2017

In 2017 we are aiming to raise in excess of $100 000. This money will once again be allocated to assisting students across Far North Queensland to receive improved educational opportunities.

Specifically funds will flow back to State Schools involved in the C2K Ride who actively contribute to its success (via the operation of bars, entertainment etc), to the Cairns School of Distance Education (to support programs such as ‘Pedals’ – 2 day student workshops in Cairns, Laura, Mt Garnet and Croydon).

Tips for Personal Fundraising

The money raised by each rider and/or supporter of the Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride is a major component of the event each year. To make it easier for you to raise the necessary money we have put together a few ideas below:

Use our online fundraising tool
Simply click ‘Fundraise Now’ and within 4 minutes you will have created a Hero Page that allows your friends, family and colleagues to support your ride. This really is the simplest form of raising funds available.

Top Tip: add a link to your Hero Page at the bottom of your email signature. This way, people learn informally what you are doing (a 780km ride!) - you will be amazed who supports you using this method.

Corporate Support
Ask your workplace to support your effort. Many companies and organisations are happy to support staff who are undertaking activities that positively impact on the community. Some will commit a set amount, other may match your fundraising efforts dollar for dollar.

Stage a post training ride breakfast at your house, host a social sports event (tennis, golf ...) and charge people to be a part of the fun. Please note that events of this nature are undertaken at your own risk and that Milboe Ltd takes no responsibility for insurance etc.

Set up a stall
Sell crafts items, sausages in bread or cupcakes at a local shopping centre with all proceeds supporting the fundraising component of your ride.

Fundraising Requirements

Fundraising requirements are different for adults and children. To see a full list of fundraising amounts, visit the Registration page.

NB: In order to be eligible to ride all fundraising must be completed 10 days prior to the briefing day in Cairns (complete fundraising by June 14, 2017). Over 90% of people choose to do online fundraising as it is just so simple. Just click on the red ‘Fundraise Now’ button on the website.

NB: The Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride provides valuable funds for the Cairns School of Distance Education. These funds are administered by the School P&C who wish to take on multiple projects that directly benefit the students at the school. Given the scope of these projects, it is not possible to provide tax deductibility for individual fundraisers of this event.

Alternatively you may pay your fundraising directly into the following account:

Milboe Ltd
Bendigo Bank
Account: 136 988 722
BSB: 633 000

If paying by EFT please notify Ride Co-ordinator, Steve Corrie at about the funds transfer – that way you won’t receive a call from us chasing up the $$!
