All our dedicated volunteers work very hard to look after us and make sure we have a good time. Be sure to get to know them all and say thanks.

The Road Kill Catering Crew will knock your socks off with their exceptional culinary skills - they'll be up at 4.30am, rattling their pots and pans, to prepare our breakfast - and they'll be having a great time too.

Hey Tracey, what's really in the Roo Stew?

The Firies Bar travels with us for the entire ride. The friendly staff will have beer, wine, spirits (rum, bourbon and scotch), soft drinks, water and chips available for purchase at very reasonable prices. Please support this facility, as all profits go towards the fund raising total. Don't forget where you pitched your tent.

Say hi to Kay from SES, Karen the collector, Lance and Charlie (hydrate or die waterboys), Kay and Gus the bus, bike mechanic Hutch, Jason in the truck, the crew from Distance Education, old mate Mark, and all the other volunteers who work extremely hard to make this ride a success... and of course, Coordinator Yvonne.

To ensure our safety, we have the very hard working Police Service volunteers, John and Aaron, who keep us entertained throughout the ride. Please be sure to show your appreciation.

Your very best friend will be your escort driver who is there to protect riders from traffic. Be sure to follow their directions and stay safe.

Telstra Countrywide will be erecting their mobile internet cafe at each night time stop. Be sure to drop in and say hello to Wally and crew and use their excellent Telstra internet service.

The Roadkill Catering Crew

It’s really great fun being a member
of the Roadkill catering mob,
we all arrive at Atherton
to begin our backbreaking job.

There’s never a nasty word with us,
but jokes and laughs are rife.
If too much laughter was a sin
we’d really be in strife.

All afternoon we chop and slice,
every night’s a three course dinner;
by the end of this seven day trip,
no one’s going to be thinner.

Outside too we have a team
in charge of our hygiene,
boiling water and washing up
to keep our utensils all clean.

Then we’re up at 4.30am
to get brekky for the riders you know.
They all have cuppas when the billy boils
till the hot food is ready to go.

They pack a lunch to have on the road
so we can load our gear up.
Then we play leapfrog with the riders
to get there first and set up.

The bikers are great, we all get along
special diets are all catered for,
all our tucker just seems to disappear
as their sore bums go out the door.

After the week is up, and we’re finished
we still have one job to do;
we go the auction at the Karumba pub
relax, and have a drink or two.

We take a day or so to get fit,
go fishing, read a book, have a beer,
compare notes on all the hard work we did,
and make plans to come again next year.
